Play the way you planned
It is a traditional card-matching game for two to six players and requires a 52-card deck with Kings high and Aces low. At the end of the game, the goal of Rummy is to come out with the most points.
Look here for a standard pack or here for one of our newer arrivals if you're looking to play Rummy.
To play, players must create at least two sequences, one of which must be pure (i.e.), there must not be a joker and the other can be pure or impure. However, players can create an impure or pure set no more than twice.
It's a race to finish all these melds before the other player does.
Toss in Rummy
First, the players will make a Toss to decide which player will move first and in what order. The closed deck is shuffled and a card is dealt to each player randomly. The person who received the highest value card has the first move. Shuffle the closed deck after each toss. After the Toss Winner, turns are taken clockwise.
Card Dealing
At random, each player is dealt 13 cards following the toss. The game begins when the first card of the pack is placed in the open deck. Wild card jokers are drawn at random from the closed deck for each game.Wild card jokers are cards of the same value.
For example, if a 6 is picked up randomly, then for that deal, all 6 value cards, regardless of suit, will act as wild cards.
Players may use the Ace card of any suit as a joker if the randomly selected card is the printed Joker.
The objective of the Rummy Card Game
To win, you must put all 13 cards in your hand into the right combinations (either all sequences or all sequences and sets) and declare your cards correctly.
A valid declaration needs sequences or sets of sequences.
You can make these declarations:
Two sequences are required to make a valid hand or declaration. There must be at least one pure sequence out of the two. The points of all the cards in your hand will be added together to calculate your penalty points if you declare without a pure sequence.
Sequence of Rummy Cards
Rummy game sequence rules are important when you're learning!
Wild Joker Joker cards are picked from a closed deck at the start of a game and can be used to create impure sequences.
Printed Joker A regular joker comes with the deck, and it can be used to create impure sequences.
Pure Sequence: Sequentially arranged cards of the same suit. A printed joker or wild Joker can't be added to a pure sequence.
Example of Pure sequence
10♣️ J♣️ Q♣️ K♣️ consists of four Club cards arranged consecutively.
A♥️ 2♥️ 3♥️ - a sequence consisting of 3 consecutive hearts cards.
Impure Sequence
An impure sequence consists of at least one joker, printed or wild, and at least three cards of the same suit.
Example of Impure Sequence
A♥️ 2♥️ 3♥️ PJ - Three of Hearts are replaced here with a printed Joker, making the card impure.
3♦️ 4♦️ K♠️ 6♦️ - Five Diamonds are impure because a wild Joker replaces them.
There is a wild Joker in the game, the K♠️, which replaced the 5 in this impure sequence.
It's time to start a valid sets
5♥️ 5♠️ 5♣️ 5♦️ -This set contains cards of the same value from different suits.
5♦️ 5♣️ 5♠️ PJ - The Printed Joker replaces 5 in this set, making it valid.
9♠️ 9♣️ K♥️ - The set consists of 9s of various suits and a wild Joker.
Note: There can't be two cards of the same value and suit in a set of cards when there are more than two players.
The following are two examples of invalid sets
3♥️ 3♥️ 3♦️ - This set contains two 3s of the same suit.
9♠️ 9♥️ 9♦️ 9♠️ 3♥️ - Despite the wild joker of three hearts, this set is invalid️.
Calculate the most wins in a game in real-time
When players lose, their hand score determines how many points they are awarded. Each card in the rummy has a different value.
CARDS | VALUE |
---|---|
Numbered cards from 2 to 10 | They carry their face value. For example, an 8 of any suit will carry 8 points |
Ace, Jack, Queen, King (High-value cards) | Each point carries 10 points |
Wild Card Joker and Printed Joker | No points are carried |
There is no value to the Joker card. All cards not arranged in sets or sequences are tallied for each losing player at the end of the game. A losing player cannot receive more than 80 points, regardless of the total of their hand score.
